The Start

So instead of saying the start I guess I could go from the beginning. Last year my husbnd and I decided we wanted to move to Kansas, well I decided and he obliged. So we bought a house, sight almost unseen for him and for me a family home. A home that although was not my grandparents home, was my grandfather's brother's family home. I have memories in this backyard from my youth, and I remember thinking how the half stair to the half buried basement was amazing. Literally AMAZING! Now, as an adult, those stairs are narrow and not all that necessary with another set of stairs 5 feet away. I got distracted... the beginning. We moved to Kansas, started jobs, and started making this family home ours. And although the inspection revealed some issues we moved in and started to unpack. We were going to bring in an electricial and plumber to "fix" the problems revealed. First was the electrician. Talk about overwhelming news... You should just remove the drywall and reveal all of the electrical so I can most effiently rewire the house. Then the plumber... Just take the walls to studs to make this as easy as possible for us to get out the galvanized plumbing. No matter how many times we come to unstop drainage it will continue. Talk about overwhelmed. As this news loads in my brain (think old dial up modem loading speeds here) I continue to unpack. DENIAL much? Eventually I come to the realization that this is not going to begin with me in my happy home pretending we are not sharing a 3 piece bathroom that is 4x4. Once I loaded all the information, and decided this is going to happen whether I am prepared or not the party started!
